November 27th, 2020 by

A popular Jeep SUV, A white 2021 Jeep Renegade Limited, is driving down a blurred city street.

If there is one iconic American auto brand that comes to mind when you think of SUVs, it’s Jeep. Specializing in off-roading and family-friendly models, Jeep SUVs are hard to beat. The entire lineup is full of different sizes, shapes, and features designed for specific needs. You can find a compact crossover for urban driving, a large model for family road trips, and even a mid-size adventure vehicle. With 2021 on the horizon, our experts at Zimmer CDJR are here to tell you about what’s new for the next lineup of Jeep SUVs. Let’s get started!

2021 Jeep Renegade

Starting at $22,830, the 2021 Jeep Renegade is the most affordable new SUV in the family. This compact crossover seats up to five people with 18.5 cubic feet of space in the back. If that’s not enough and you don’t need the back seats, simply fold them down to expand the area to 50.8 cubic feet. There is ample space inside this petite ride.

As for powertrains, there are two that you can choose between. First is the turbocharged 1.3-liter 4-cylinder motor that pushes out 177 hp and 210 lb-ft of torque. The fuel economy is set at about 27 MPG combined (24 city/32 highway) for standard FWD models, which is very good for an SUV.

The other engine is available for several of the regular and special edition trims. It’s a 2.4-liter Tigershark I-4 engine that generates 180 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. It gets a little less fuel economy at 25 MPG combined (22 city/30 highway).

This vehicle is available in four trims and three special editions. Each one is equipped with the Advanced Safety Group, which includes some stellar safety systems. These are Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking, Lane-Departure Warning with Lane-Keeping Assist, Rear Cross-Path Detection, and Blindspot Monitoring. Also, standard on every model is the UConnect 4 infotainment system. It comes with Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity for hands-free text messaging and calling.

2021 Jeep Compass

Starting at $23,895, the 2021 Jeep Compass is another compact crossover in the lineup of new Jeep SUVs. This model also seats five, but it has more room in the back for cargo. Behind the second row of seating is 27.2 cubic feet of space, and the maximum cargo area is measured at 59.8 cubic feet.

Under the hood of this perky ride, you will find the aforementioned 2.4-liter Tigershark motor. The output remains the same, and the 2021 Compass can tow up to 2,000 pounds when properly equipped. The Compass also offers drivers the use of the Selec-Terrain Traction system. The Selec-Terrain Traction Management System allows you to choose what type of performance you want from the Compass based on the road conditions. Your choices are Auto, Mud, Rock, Sand, and Snow.

The 2021 Jeep Compass is offered in four trims (including a Trailhawk model) and two special editions. Each trim comes standard with the UConnect infotainment system that is a bit more advanced than the one equipped on the Renegade. Added into the mix on the Compass is compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You can stream music seamlessly or use your favorite apps without taking your hands off the wheel.

2021 Jeep Cherokee

Starting at $26,535, the 2021 Jeep Cherokee is another great vehicle that you will find amongst the latest Jeep SUVs. Also offering five seats, this model provides 25.8 cubic feet of cargo room behind the second row. By folding that back row down, you will have about 54.7 cubic feet of space to store all of your stuff in.

The Cherokee is geared more towards families than the Renegade and the Compass. However, it can still handle a camping trip or a day of fishing with no problem. You have a choice of three engines. The first is a turbocharged 2.0-liter motor that delivers 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. With an average fuel economy of 26 MPG combined (23 city/31 highway), this petite ride can pull a surprising 4,000 pounds. If you need a little more power, you can opt for the 3.2-liter V6 engine. Producing 271 hp and 239 lb-ft of torque, this powertrain can handle a trailer weight of 4,500 pounds. It also gets about 23 MPG combined (20 city/29 highway). Finally, the 2.4-liter Tigershark engine is available with this vehicle as well.

Available in five trim levels and three special editions, there is a 2021 Cherokee model that is perfect for you! Every model comes with the aforementioned Advanced Safety Group package plus rain-sensing wipers. The UConnect infotainment system with advanced smartphone integration is also included along with LED exterior lighting for optimized visibility.

2021 Jeep Wrangler

Starting at $28,295, the 2021 Wrangler is back and better than ever before. This off-roading champion is arguably one of the most recognizable vehicles in the country. It also serves as a seasonal marker. Everyone knows that when you see the Wranglers roll out, good weather is here to stay for a while!

There are two available body styles. The regular Wranglers offer seating for five with 12.9 cubic feet of room in the back. The maximum cargo area is measured at 31.7 cubic feet. As for the Unlimited four-door body style, it also offers five seats. However, it has 31.7 cubic feet of space behind the back row and a maximum of 72.4 cubic feet once the seats are folded down.

This vehicle is Trail Rated and available with four different engines plus an all-new hybrid powertrain. The two that carry over from other models are the turbocharged 2.0-liter and the 3.6-liter V6. The third powertrain is a diesel 3.0-liter V6 motor that pumps out 260 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque. With the ability to tow up to 3,500 pounds, this powertrain gets around 25 MPG combined (22 city/29 highway). The fourth option is the same 3.6 V6 engine paired with the eTorque mild hybrid system to give you a little bit better gas mileage.

Finally, brand new for the 2021 Wrangler is the 4xe hybrid model. This model includes a 2.0L 1-4 turbo PHEV engine that produces 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. Even though it’s a hybrid, this new Jeep model is still trail ready.

There are 12 total trims offered between regular and special edition models. The new Wrangler comes standard with a removable soft top and removable doors so you can enjoy bringing nature inside the vehicle when you go off-roading. Each model also comes with Selec-Speed Control, which allows you to drive at a slow and steady pace while traveling up or down rough terrain.

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Starting at $34,200, the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee is the last new model you will see in the lineup of Jeep SUVs. As a mid-size SUV, it still offers seating for five people. Behind the seats, you will find 36.3 cubic feet of room in the back and a maximum cargo area of 68.3 cubic feet.

The Grand Cherokee is the perfect set of wheels for families who love to go on adventures. There are four engines to choose from, including the aforementioned 3.6-liter V6. You can also get a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 that makes 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. This one can haul up to 7,200 pounds. The third option is a 6.4-liter SRT V8 engine that generates 475 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 for the Trackhawk produces 707 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque. Equipped with tow hooks, skid plated, all-terrain tires, and a specialized 4WD system, you can go anywhere in this dynamic SUV.

Available in seven trim levels and three special editions, every model comes standard with the ProTech I package. This includes Rear Park Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Blindspot Monitoring, and a rearview camera. Advanced smartphone integration via the UConnect infotainment system is also included.
