Jeep SUVs

Jeep SUVs have a way of capturing our hearts like no other vehicles on the road today. It’s not a mystery why that is; Jeep is the quintessential SUV, and it’s earned its spot at the top of the list after 80 years of building quality vehicles for the most daunting conditions and challenging environments. While today’s Jeep SUVs lineup is full of technological advancements and class-leading driver-assist safety systems, technology wasn’t always the focus. At first, the Jeep had a different use.

Jeep got its start as a military vehicle in the 1940s - June of 1940, to be exact - in the form of the Willys Quad. This World War II-bound Jeep was a 1/4 ton design that was built in just 75 days for the U.S. Army. Technically specified as a “light reconnaissance vehicle,” these 4x4 early Jeeps carried American troops into battle, with one Jeep MB actually earning a Purple Heart. Its robust and durable frame and go-anywhere 4x4 drive train kept troops agile and moving throughout the war.

In 1945, the first production Jeep hit the American car market. Named the CJ-2A, this ‘civilian’ Jeep was targeted to farmers as a hybrid truck/tractor. Back then, your Jeep CJ-2A would cost a mere $1,090, and eventually, it was tweaked to appeal to more than just farmers. The first Jeep wagon appeared in 1946, replete with wooden side panels, and a pickup truck followed just after, in 1947. By 1950, the Jeep started to look more like today’s modern Wrangler, and that’s when the name “Jeep” became a registered trademark. The rest is history. 80 years of history, to be exact.

Today’s Jeeps are loaded with more advanced driver-assist systems and efficient engines and powertrains than ever in the company’s history. However, even with all of this history, a Jeep is still a Jeep. The brand represents adventure and rugged off-roading, and Jeep celebrates that heritage with every vehicle it makes. All-weather capability and rugged good looks make Jeep models the ideal companion for life’s adventures. 80 years in the making and looking forward to 80 more.

2021 Jeep Wrangler

A burgundy 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, one of the Jeep SUVs with removable doors, is shown from the side without doors or a roof while off-road.

There is no Jeep out there that is more iconic than the Wrangler. The Jeep Wrangler carries the torch for 2021, continuing in its role as the iconic Jeep model. Starting at $28,295, the 2021 Jeep Wrangler adds a 400-mile range, plug-in hybrid trim to its already extensive model lineup. The Wrangler 4xe combines the fuel efficiency of a hybrid with impressive performance, delivering 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. That’s plenty of power for off-roading adventures and swift highway acceleration. Jeep estimates that the Wrangler 4xe will achieve a 50 MPG fuel economy rating on all-electric power.

2021 represents Jeep’s 80th year of making America’s favorite off-roading vehicles. To celebrate, the company is including a free three-year membership to the Jeep Wave customer care program to anyone that buys a 2021 Jeep. Jeep Wave includes three free oil changes and tire rotations and 24/7 owner support. Jeep Wave also includes free same-day vehicle rentals (when available) anytime the Jeep is in for routine maintenance.

Jeep wants Wrangler owners to experience what it calls “Open-Air Freedom,” so the company has outfitted the Wrangler with several roof options. The manual Sunrider soft top comes off easily, with or without removing the rear windows. It folds down into two positions: the Sunrider position, which is 3/4 open, and full removal, which requires removing the back and rear passenger windows and tucking the roof into the rear of the vehicle.

The Freedom top is a three-piece hardtop that can be manually removed in sections, depending on how much open air you desired. The hardtop comes in black or body color for a more monotone exterior appearance. The Sky One-Touch Power Top is a soft top that can be opened and closed automatically with the push of a button, operating much like a power moonroof. It can be opened or closed at any point along the track.

The 2021 Wrangler comes in four regular trims. The base Sport starts at $28,295 for the two-door and $31,795 for the four-door. The Sport S, which is priced at $32,435 for the two-door and $35,935 for the four-door, is next. The Sahara is available in four-door only and priced at $38,890. Finally, the Rubicon comes in at $38,940 for the two-door and $42,195 for the four-door.

The current Wrangler also has eight different special edition trims if you are looking for something with a little more flair. The Wrangler tradition continues in style with the 2021 Jeep lineup of Wrangler SUVs. So get in a Wrangler and get out on the trails.

2021 Grand Cherokee

A white 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee is driving on a wet road past trees.

Most people know that the Grand Cherokee is the luxury option in the lineup of Jeep SUVs. There’s a reason this perennial Jeep SUV continues to earn accolades from automotive journalists and consumers alike: from its easily recognizable curb appeal to the plethora of comfort, luxury, and convenience features Jeep builds into every Grand Cherokee. This model gives consumers the closest option to a no-brainer that the category has ever seen.

Jeep continues to wow buyers with ultra-luxurious options and a variety of exterior features that distinguish each Grand Cherokee from another. Much like the Wrangler, the Grand Cherokee offers a wide array of trim options. How many Jeep Grand Cherokee trims are available for 2021?
There are seven total regular trims and three special edition ones, starting with the base Laredo E, which starts at $34,200. The base model includes cloth seats and Jeep’s ProTech I safety suite of driver-assist systems.

In the mid-range, you’ll find the Trailhawk at a starting price of $45,600. Available only in four-wheel drive, the Trailhawk is designed for off-roading. It’s a more rugged exterior look that includes hefty tow hooks mounted on the front bumper, special 18-inch tires, and Trailhawk badging to distinguish it from the rest of the trim lineup. Jeep’s Quadra-Drive II system includes a rear electronic limited-slip differential that uses the engine’s torque to direct traction where it’s needed. There’s an 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen on the dash with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and special Trailhawk leather and suede seats with red accents.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland starts at an MSRP of $46,940 for the two-wheel drive, and buyers get heated and ventilated leather seats and a CommandView Dual-Pane Panoramic Sunroof. The ultra-luxurious Summit tops off Jeep’s base lineup. At a starting MSRP of $53,290, this beauty tricks out the interior with Berber carpeting, optional Laguna leather seating, and special interior lighting. The Summit is available with a distinctive contrasting black roof, and Jeep’s ProTech I and ProTech II safety packages are both standard.

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT 4x4 distances itself from its siblings in many ways. First, it starts at $69,390, a big jump from even the high-end Summit. This model has a 475 horsepower 6.4-liter V8 engine and optional Brembo premium braking system, the industry’s most advanced braking system available. You’ll need that stopping power since the SRT takes you from 0-60 in just 4.4 seconds, and the D-shaped flat-bottom racing steering wheel and bright red seat belts take the track-ready theme inside.

At the top of the line, you will find the Trackhawk trim coming in at $87,895 starting. This is the ultimate model if you are looking to take your Grand Cherokee off the road. If you’re looking for a luxurious, sporty Jeep SUV, check out the one and only 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

This lineup even has three special edition trims for the 2021 model year. There’s even an official “Trail Rated” Renegade - the Trailhawk - that puts the focus on off-roading capability for all your traveling adventures. The Trailhawk starts at an affordable $28,925 and includes Selec-Terrain functionality, giving drivers one-touch settings for multiple road conditions, including snow, sand, mud, and even rock.

Safety is front-and-center on the Renegade. Jeep engineered over 70 standard and optional safety components for the 2021 Renegade, including a suite of highly-advanced driver-assist safety systems, like blind spot monitoring and lane departure warning. The standard rearview camera helps with backing out of parking spots, and if you need more assistance, you can add the optional ParkSense rear park assist, ParkSense front park assist, and parallel and perpendicular park and exit assist systems. All work together to take the stress out of entering and exiting challenging parking situations.

The 2021 Jeep Renegade combines budget-friendly pricing with class-leading safety, off-roading capability, and style. It’s a fun and reliable, compact SUV option for buyers looking to join the Jeep family. Don't forget that this Jeep, like every other 2021 model, will come with a 3-year enrollment in the Jeep Wave program.
