Zimmer Motors has been operating in the Northern Kentucky area since 1929. It all began as a Plymouth franchise started by Ed Zimmer. Then, in 1933, the Desoto nameplate was added. A few years later, in 1938, the dealership was forced to move to a smaller area of land, and it operated as a used car dealer up until 1958.
In 1959, Studebaker was added as a franchise, followed by Plymouth (again) in 1961, and then the Chrysler brand in 1978. Continuing our family-owned tradition, Tom Zimmer joined our dealership in 1958, and Dick Zimmer in 1961. In March of 1980, Zimmer Motors moved to our present location in Florence, KY as a Chrysler and Plymouth dealership.
The new dealership quickly grew from seventeen employees to over fifty in a short span of time. Current managers Catherine, John, and Rich Zimmer all joined the company in the 1980s. In 1991, we added the Jeep and Eagle brands to our expanding line of quality brands. And in 2005, we underwent our latest change with a remodeled showroom and a brand-new separate auto parts center. Today, we continue to look for areas of improvement and grow to meet the needs of each and every customer that walks through our door.
