The 2023 Wagoneer L: Family-Friendly Capability

Looking for comfort, convenience, capability, and space in one vehicle? Then it’s time to visit a Wagoneer L dealership. Before we get into why the Wagoneer is a powerful family SUV, let’s go back to this model’s debut in 1962. The Wagoneer L exists today because sixty years ago, Jeep wanted to introduce a commuter model with power. Essentially, the original Wagoneer was meant to be spacious like a station wagon and robust like a 4×4 truck. Jeep succeeded and successfully produced the original Wagoneer from 1962 to 1991. It’s now back with some impressive improvements after its long hiatus.
The new Wagoneer L is exciting because of its extended cabin and its new engine upgrades. The Wagoneer returned for the 2022 model year. The first new Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models included standard 5.7-liter V8 engines. Stellantis upgraded the 2023 Wagoneer L and Grand Wagoneer L model years to an eco-friendlier and more capable engine lineup. As exciting as it is, this new engine simply sweetens the already luxurious deal for family drivers. Let’s take a closer look at why the 2023 Wagoneer L is the ideal family-friendly luxury SUV.
Roaring Like a Hurricane
The Wagoneer is now available in several different models; the Wagoneer, Wagoneer L, Grand Wagoneer, and Grand Wagoneer L. This can get confusing, so for clarity, we’re focusing on the Wagoneer L today. This model offers two things that the regular Wagoneer does not––more power and a longer wheelbase. Its exceptional “Hurricane” twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine is more compact, more powerful, and more efficient than previous Stellantis engines. It outperforms recent V8 engine options while improving upon horsepower and fuel economy. Even better? An available “high-output” Hurricane engine provides even more power than the standard engine.
Let’s review the specs. The standard Hurricane twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter I-6 engine produces 420 hp and 468 lb-ft of torque while maintaining up to 17 MPG combined. The High-Output Hurricane engine produces 510 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. Compared to last year’s engine specs, this is quite impressive. The 2022 Wagoneer has a standard 5.7-liter V8 engine that pushes out 392 hp and 404 lb-ft of torque. The V8 also has a lower fuel economy rating than the 2023 Wagoneer L, landing at 15 MPG combined.
Power isn’t sacrificed here, either. The 2023 Wagoneer L’s Hurricane engine can tow up to 10,000 lbs, just like the 2022 Wagoneer’s V8 engine. In short, the new engine is a win for everyone. The best part? Stellantis designed the new Hurricane engine to be hybrid and plug-in hybrid compatible, so we can expect a Wagoneer hybrid to arrive in the near future.

Space and Interior
The Wagoneer lineup is made for families. Every Wagoneer is spacious, but the Wagoneer L includes extra cargo space thanks to a 7-inch longer wheelbase and a 12-inch longer overall length. This means that the Wagoneer L can hold up to 130.9 cu.ft. of cargo behind the first row. It allows for 88.8 cu.ft. behind the second row and 44.2 cu.ft. behind the third. Legroom ratings are the same for the Wagoneer and Wagoneer L at 40.9 inches in the front, 42.7 inches in the second row, and 36.6 inches in the third row. This means that the 2023 Wagoneer L has more passenger space than any other vehicle in its class.
You can choose your passenger-to-cargo ratio thanks to 60/40 split seating and an available power-folding third-row. Whether it’s just you, your partner, and your puppy heading out to go camping, or you’re taking the nieces and nephews out for ice cream, the interior setup is in your hands. Up to eight passengers can benefit from the Wagoneer L’s luxurious design. In addition to comfort and space, Tri-Zone Climate Control is there to make sure there’s no arguing over the A/C or heat.
Technology Features
Imagine how disappointed you’d be if you invested in a brand-new vehicle just to be met with a mediocre sound system. The point of buying a luxury vehicle is to keep up with the latest technologies and entertainment features. No luxury buyer wants to be let down by average speakers. Unlike other full-size luxury SUVs, the 2023 Wagoneer L includes an available 19-speaker McIntosh MX950 sound system. Thanks to the latest tech, you can stream Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to a high-quality degree.
It doesn’t stop at the sound system. Keep the kids entertained for hours, thanks to the Rear Seat Entertainment System. These screens use Amazon Fire TV to keep your passengers connected. Whether it be streaming services, games, or live streams, everyone is covered. Each screen can be used separately or conjointly.
The Wagoneer L has a class-exclusive Passenger Interactive Display as well. It allows the passenger to control the radio, access Bluetooth connectivity, and control the Rear Seat Entertainment System. The front passenger can even update and share GPS coordinates with the driver. This interactive display is not currently available on any other model in this class.

Wagoneer Connect Remote Access
Wagoneer Connect is available for those who want to remotely access their SUV’s features. It allows you to access everything from door locks and remote start to navigation, security, and entertainment. You’ll have access to your “Digital Glovebox” at all times; if you need any information from your vehicle user manual, you can find it here. You can also locate your vehicle via Wagoneer Connect.
There are multiple available “Wagoneer Connect Packages” to choose from, including the Safety + Security Package, Vehicle Performance Package, and Assistance + Navigation Package. Put simply? You’ll get roadside assistance, SOS calling, stolen vehicle assistance, and much more. You can access off-road pages, in-vehicle messaging, and vehicle health alerts. Finally, you can experience luxury-level features such as TomTom Navigation, Google Vehicle Assistant, and Remote Vehicle Operations.
Safety and Security for the Family
Family safety comes first with the new Wagoneer L’s vast safety and security features. The Wagoneer L includes several safety technologies. Its initial defense is its standard safety suite, which includes Pedestrian and Cyclist Emergency Braking, Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking, and Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path Detection. These technologies will alert you when a vehicle or pedestrian is in your path. They will also automatically apply the brakes for you when deemed necessary. There are plenty of other safety technologies to choose from, including Parallel and Perpendicular Parking Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, and much more.
