Behind every Ram truck is a driver who craves power and utility. With plenty of high-tech features and a design geared toward a hard day’s work, the 2023 Ram 2500 offers a line of trucks with heavy-duty capabilities that will get the job done.

As you browse Ram 2500 trucks for sale near Covington, KY, keep your eyes open for the new Rebel HD trim level. The Rebel takes a lot of the current Power Wagon’s abilities and adds the availability of something you cannot get on the Power Wagon—a Cummins turbo diesel engine. Designed to compete with other newly redesigned HD models, the Rebel HD sets the bar incredibly high. More on that in a minute.

Also new for 2023, the Ram 2500 has upgraded towing capabilities; when properly equipped, the Ram 2500 can tow up to 20,000 lbs and can handle up to 4,010 lbs of payload. This pickup’s new trailering technology makes it all the more capable; from the available trailer tow views to the Trailer Reverse Steering Control system, the Ram 2500 takes the hassle out of towing.

The 2500 faces stiff competition, to be sure. However, as you are about to find out, the new 2023 Ram 2500 leaves its rivals in the dust—literally as much as figuratively. Now let’s break down the most important, need-to-know details about the 2023 Ram 2500 lineup…

The Ram-tastic Rebel HD

Let’s cut right to the chase—the fresh-faced Rebel HD trim level is completely awesome. When you equip the Rebel HD with the available Turbo Diesel engine, this truck becomes a total powerhouse. You can stick with the standard 6.4L HEMI V8—and who can blame you since this engine is notoriously strong and reliable—or opt for that 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel I-6. The V8’s Variable-Cam Timing serves up a solid 410 hp, delivered to the wheels by an eight-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain comes with on-the-fly mapping and total electronic operation and feels smooth in its power transfer.

However, the Cummins—which utilizes a six-speed automatic transmission to feed its power—is even better equipped for towing and hauling. It maxes the truck’s towing capacity out to 14,920 lbs and payload capacity to 1,970 lbs. The transmission has gear ratios optimized for towing and hauling, and you won’t hear much noise coming from any part of the powertrain, even when you are lugging around a heavy load.

Something else that makes the Rebel HD stand out is the presence of Telescopic Trailer Tow Mirrors. These mirrors extend and retract to give you more visibility while trying to park or while you are towing.

The Rebel HD’s 98% high-strength steel frame lends a lot to the vehicle’s strength. A five-link rear coil suspension and Bilstein Gas-Charged Monotube Shocks make for a comfortable ride quality while you are driving along the paved roadway or going off-roading.

Towing Technology

The 2023 Ram 2500 is the most technologically advanced 2500 model ever made. The Trailer Tow features help make this vehicle so advanced. You can check the Trailer Brake Status and can use Tow Specific Navigation to help you navigate around difficult pathways. Trailer Light Check allows you to check your trailer’s lights. All of this can be done from the chic 12.0-inch Driver Information Display Cluster, now available; these pages are easy to use, as are the Off-Road Pages.

There is also a Tow Mode camera, which is used in the digital rear-view mirror, providing a clear view of everything directly behind your trailer. You can toggle between that Exterior Mirror Cameras, All Cameras Activated, or All Cameras Off. This real-time video stream lets you see areas you otherwise would not see very well, keeping you safe and your trailer secure. Even just a few years ago, you would’ve been hard-pressed to find such intensive towing technology on a vehicle. If you plan on doing a lot of towing, this tech will be indispensable.

Adventure Off the Beaten Path

Off-roading is made effortless on the 2023 Ram 2500. Both the Power Wagon and the Rebel HD are beefed up for off-roading adventures. A lightweight WARN ZEON-12 Winch rated for 12,000 lbs equips the Ram 2500 with a non-fraying synthetic line that is also kink-resistant.

You can traverse all types of terrain thanks to the Bilstein Gas-Charged Monotube Shocks. These shocks help keep your tires firmly planted on the terrain, even if it’s drastically uneven, and they deliver a smooth ride performance regardless of where you are driving. The electronically locking front and rear differentials ensure that all four wheels receive an equal amount of torque while you are off-roading. Also, axle articulation is improved by the electronically disconnecting front sway bar.

Infotainment Features Galore

The 2023 Ram 2500 is packed with infotainment features you can use while on the go. The brand-new optional 12.0-inch Driver Information Digital Cluster is attractive with its crisp, clear graphics displayed in 3D with color customization; this will show you safety alerts, driver profiles, and—if you so wish—in-vehicle navigation. You can see turn-by-turn navigation, not to mention a gauge summary, trailer tire pressure monitoring, and vehicle dynamics and diagnostics.

Uconnect comes on every trim level. However, there is an upgraded option for Uconnect 5 NAV, which means navigation is integrated into this system. This all comes with a 12.0-inch infotainment touchscreen display on which you can create up to five different user profiles. There is also connectivity for two phones simultaneously, and wireless smartphone app integration allows you to sync your favorite apps to the system without all the excess cord clutter.

A 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot is available on the new Ram 2500. Even if you go up to 50 feet away from the truck, you can still use Wi-Fi on your smartphone or tablet. You can do work, access your email, and visit your favorite websites while you’re out and about.

Staying Safe

Safety is certainly a priority for pickup owners, particularly given the size of their ride, which is why the Ram 2500 comes loaded with advanced driver assistance and other safety and security features. Active emergency braking can accompany the forward collision warning on certain trim levels; when an impending collision is detected, this system automatically applies the brakes in an attempt to avoid it. It can do this even when you have a trailer attached and loaded up.

We’re all prone to accidentally drifting over the line on occasion. The LaneSense Lane Departure Warning, which comes with Lane Keep Assist built-in, keeps your vehicle from going too far over the line; when the system detects drifting, it will gently guide the vehicle back inside your lane.

Trying to park a massive pickup—especially when a trailer is attached—can be difficult. With the available ParkSense Front and Rear Park Assist sensors, you get a better sense of how much space you have to park. Sensors on the front bumper and lower valance provide you with a digital readout of your surroundings on the instrument cluster.
