In the past, used car shopping meant hours of browsing through classified ads and, more often than not, getting what you paid for. The times, however, are a-changing. Manufacturers like Ram now offer Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicles that might not be new but have all the benefits of purchasing a vehicle from the current model year. This is why taking advantage of getting a Certified Pre-Owned Ram could very well be advantageous for you. The past five years of the Ram 1500 have been marked with incredible customer feedback, exquisite performance, and reliability that you can count on. Let’s examine the high points of the last five model years in hopes of assisting you in making a well-informed decision when you visit us at Zimmer Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.

Why a Certified Pre-Owned Ram? What Are the Advantages?

While saying the term “used car” to anyone might conjure up images of clunkers and hunks of scrap metal not fit for the junkyard, Certified Pre-Owned vehicles are changing the way people see used car shopping. Unlike buying from an unknown third-party seller, CPO models are only sold at certified Ram dealers like Zimmer Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. These trucks are inspected by our certified technicians, backed by manufacturer warranties, and offer all the benefits of buying a new car but with a smaller price tag. Buying a CPO Ram comes with several advantages that you should know about.

Inspection Protection: You’ll have peace of mind when you buy a CPO Ram because all vehicles are subjected to a 125-point inspection before being placed on the market. All parts that have been recalled or need replacement are upgraded with certified Mopar parts.
Keeping an Eye on the Powertrain: Even when a Ram passes our inspection, it comes with even more assurance in the form of a limited powertrain warranty. This lasts for seven years or 100,000 miles, giving you peace of mind.
Maximum Care for Maximum Results: The Ram you drive off our lot is also backed by what’s called the Maximum Care warranty. This covers over 3,000 parts on your Ram and lasts for three months or 3,000 miles.

Best of the Best

There’s a lot of pride in being a Ram owner. The first Ram rolled off the assembly line back in 1981 under the Dodge brand. Dodge’s history of building rugged trucks stretches back over a century, with the first models being built in 1917. Ram trucks took this history to the next level, proving so successful that Ram became an independent brand in 2010. To go over the attributes of every Ram make and model that’s ever existed would take a short lifetime. Because all CPO Rams are no older than five years, we’ve gathered some of the best options that will suit your needs, whatever they might be.

2017 Ram 1500

A lot can change in a five-year period. That being said, the more things change, the more they stay the same. While Ram has been a long-standing icon of versatility and performance, the 2017 model year introduced some brand new features that turned quite a few heads that year.

Available Amenities: All the way back in 2017, Ram filled its trucks with available features, including an option 8.4-inch touchscreen–the largest in its class at the time. Ram’s own way of saying “thank you” to its customers.
Assistance Persistence: Driver assistance technology is constantly evolving, and Ram has always strived to be ahead of the game. To this end, the 2017 Ram 1500 came with available rear backup and park assist. Keeping you and those you share the road with safe, sound, and secure.
Fuel Efficiency, Thy Name is Ram: Making a truck that has impeccable performance and will also save money at the pump is the challenge laid out to every manufacturer. Equipping the Ram 1500 with 3.0L EcoDiesel V6, drivers had the best of both worlds with 420 lb-ft of torque and 27 MPG highway.

2018 Ram 1500

The train kept on-a-rolling for Ram as 2018 began. While it’s always been assumed that the wheel can’t be reinvented, Ram continued to expand upon past greatness with elevated performance and reliability.

We Got Your Back: Making improvements on its standard safety features, all Ram 1500 models came with a standard backup camera. This extra set of eyes allowed for drivers to exercise further caution when driving in close proximity to pedestrians.
Guardian Angel: 2018 was also notable for Ram introducing SiriusXM Guardian as an added feature to its Uconnect infotainment system. This was the type of protection that allowed for better peace of mind than ever before, with SOS distress signaling, emergency services via GPS connection, and vehicle finder.
Not the Only One: The 2018 Ram 1500 came equipped with two other engine options besides the 3.0L EcoDiesel, both of which also provided excellent performance and fuel efficiency. A 3.6L V6 achieved 305 ponies while offering 25 MPG highway. For those who needed extra power for the larger jobs, Ram offered a unique 5.7L V8 Hemi. This wasn’t just any Hemi, with 395 horsepower and 22 MPG highway Ram once again offered drivers the best of both worlds.

2019 Ram 1500

2019 proved to be an important year for the Ram 1500. In an industry that’s constantly changing by leaps and bounds, Ram implemented major changes that no one might have foreseen just a year earlier. While the following year would bring an unexpected change for everyone the world over, 2019 was the birth of a new Ram.

Stronger & Lighter: The 2019 Ram had a major design change, one that could be considered “going on a diet.” Substantial weight reductions helped the Ram lose over 200 lbs. At the same time, a new frame composed of 98% steel was introduced. Almost 100 lbs lighter than the previous designs, it was also stronger. This was ingenuity that far surpassed the competition.
Mightier is the Load: While the weight of the Ram 1500 had decreased, one thing that increased was the truck’s payload capacity and towing prowess. The Ram could now carry 2,320 lbs and tow up to 12,750 lbs. Now there was no excuse for not getting the job done.
Firing on All Six Cylinders: Aside from the various changes to the body and payload capacity, the Ram debuted a new engine that year. The 3.6L V6 with eTorque was just as powerful as a lightning bolt shooting down from Mt. Olympus. Boasting 305 ponies and 269 lb-ft of torque, this was a V6 for a new generation.

2020 Ram 1500

The 2020 Ram 1500 is what happens when Ram takes its proud pedigree of the pickup and combines it with modern technology that does its part to help lower emissions. Not to worry—there’s still plenty of fight in this Ram.

V8 Goes Electric: The mild-hybrid Ram 1500 might be a product of progressive thinking, but there’s still plenty of aggression underneath the hood. The 5.7L V8 with eTorque can generate a staggering 395 HP and 410 lb-ft of torque thanks to its electric assist. This means you’ll be driving while going green!
All the Benefits: If you think that a hybrid truck can’t pull its weight with its gasoline-powered contemporaries, think again. An 8-speed automatic transmission and 4WD make this Ram just as capable as the rest of the fleet. You’ll also have up to the full 12,750 lbs of towing capacity, which means you’ll be able to do more than some of the other trucks on your block.

2021 Ram 1500

The 2021 model year saw some major changes for the Ram 1500, including the introduction of the ground-breaking Ram 1500 TRX with its supercharged V8. With the updated 1500 described by the brand itself as a “benchmark for durability, technology, efficiency, performance, and convenience,” this year would be marked by new innovations for the Ram 1500.

New Year, New Features: Safety should always be accessible to the consumer. To this end, Ram offered several new features as standard on all Rams. Pedestrian detection was added to the Advanced Safety Package, and a head-up display and digital rearview mirror became available options.
Top-Tier Towing: Ram’s available towing package was more advanced than the competition. Reverse steering control granted access to convenience unseen until then. A trailer tire pressure monitoring system allowed drivers to keep an eye on their cargo without having to pull over and stop.
Off the Road and Over the Limit: Even if a TRX was not in your budget, new and exclusive off-road features were now available, specifically formulated for the Ram owner who lives life off the beaten path. These included Off-Road Pages, displaying important information like pitch and roll angles on the infotainment screen.
