We’ll start by reviewing what these models are and how they’re classified, and then further break down their feature sets.

The 2025 Jeep Gladiator is classified as a rugged midsize pickup truck. The Gladiator is designed for both daily driving and serious off-road use. 2025 Jeep Wrangler Trims, Powertrains, and Features

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler is a rugged midsize SUV available in two-door and four-door Unlimited formats. It is available only as a four-wheel drive model with an automatic or manual transmission. The standard Wrangler’s maximum fuel economy is 20 MPG in the city and 23 MPG on the highway, while the hybrid has a maximum of 49 MPGe and 22 miles in electric-only range.

You can get the Wrangler in four different powertrain formats. The same 3.6L Pentastar V6 as the Gladiator is available with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission, and still makes 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. The other powertrains all come equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Those include a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder, which makes 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, and the 6.4L HEMI 392 Apache V8 that makes 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. Finally, there is the hybrid 2.0L I-4 paired with a 17.3-kWh battery pack.

The standard 2025 Wrangler is available in the following trims:

  • Sport
  • Sport S
  • Willys
  • Sahara
  • Rubicon
  • Rubicon X
  • Rubicon 392

In addition, the hybrid 4xe is available in the following trims:

  • Sport S 4xe
  • Willys 4xe
  • Sahara 4xe
  • Willys ‘41 4xe
  • Rubicon 4xe
  • Backcountry 4xe
  • Rubicon X 4xe

Similarities

At first glance, the most obvious similarities between the 2025 Gladiator and Wrangler are their designs. They have very similar A and B pillar profiles and a very similar designed front fascia. The Gladiator basically takes on the visage of the Wrangler, but in truck form. The Wrangler Unlimited and Gladiator also share the same four-door cab and seating for up to five people across two rows.

Both vehicles also feature similar wheel designs, with 17-inch standard wheels, and tire sizes that can scale up to 37 inches when properly equipped. You’ll find that they also share similar suspension and 4×4 systems, with the Gladiator and Wrangler both featuring Tru-Lok electronically controlled differentials on select trims, as well as Rock-Trac functionality on the Rubicon models that enable 84:1 crawl ratios, and a 4:1 transfer case for maximum torque output. Sway-bar disconnect and rock rails are also available for both vehicles, along with Dana 44 solid axles for added rigidity and rugged durability for off-road travel. Both vehicles also share added utility with the front tow hooks.

Both vehicles also provide you with strong customization capabilities and accessories to outfit them with, including Jeep’s signature open-air freedom. You can use soft or hard removable roofs, as well as removable doors, and the ability to lower the windshield. You can also customize the bumpers, skid plates, wheels, or tires with both vehicles.

Inside, the 2025 Wrangler and 2025 Gladiator share similar materials and upholstery, including cloth seats on the entry trims or leather seats on the upper trim grades. Both also share the same Uconnect 5 infotainment suite with a 12.3-inch HD touchscreen and connectivity features for smart devices and remote access. You get the same level of convenience features as well, such as heated power front seats, interior storage, and apps like the off-road pages for navigation.

Key Differences

Despite their shared DNA, the Gladiator and Wrangler diverge in key ways. The 2025 Wrangler has three additional powertrain options over the 2025 Gladiator. Additionally, the two vehicles ride on different wheelbases, with the Gladiator’s wheelbase being 137.3 inches while the Wrangler’s longest wheelbase is 118.4 inches for the Wrangler Unlimited. This changes how both vehicles perform when it comes to their utility, off-roading capabilities, and storage capacity.

The Gladiator, for instance, has better towing and hauling capabilities over the Wrangler thanks to its longer chassis. The Gladiator can tow up to 7,700 lbs, significantly more than the Wrangler’s 5,000-lb limit. The Gladiator also provides a max payload rating of up to 1,725 lbs, thanks to its rear cargo bed that provides up to 35.5 cu.ft. of cargo capacity.

While the Wrangler lacks a cargo bed, you do get more total cargo volume if you fold down the second row. You can make use of the extra cargo space in the Wrangler Unlimited, which provides you with up to 72.4 cu.ft. of total cargo volume. While the Gladiator focuses on utility with its bed, the Wrangler counters with a larger enclosed cargo volume.

Another big difference is that while the Gladiator offers better towing and hauling, the longer chassis does impact its break-over and departure angles. The 2025 Gladiator has a maximum departure angle of up to 26 degrees and a break-over angle of 20.9 degrees. The 2025 Wrangler, however, offers a departure angle of 40.4 degrees and a break-over angle of 22.5 degrees. In practical terms, this means the Wrangler can better clear steep obstacles, while the Gladiator is optimized for stability under load.

The Wrangler also has access to the Command-Trac and Selec-Trac 4×4 systems in addition to the Rock-Trac, while the Gladiator only has access to the Rock-Trac. The Wrangler performs better if your main focus is off-roading, rock crawling, and hill climbing. However, if you do some occasional off-roading but also do regular towing and hauling, the Jeep Gladiator provides you with that extra sense of functionality and utility over the Wrangler.

Another big difference is the 2025 model year trim line-up. The Gladiator has the Nighthawk, High Tide, and Mojave, while the Wrangler has the Sahara, Willys ‘41, and Backcountry. It’s really a matter of preference when it comes to trim grades. The 2025 Wrangler does have access to the 4xe trims for plug-in hybrid functionality, which the 2025 Gladiator lacks. Ultimately, the Gladiator blends off-road adventure with work-truck versatility, while the Wrangler prioritizes trail performance and daily-driving flexibility.
