SUVs and crossovers offer more power than average cars and sedans, with off-roading capabilities and more cargo and passenger space as well. While there are several dependable SUV brands on the market, Jeep is one of the most well-known and dependable SUV brands when it comes to durability and performance. All Jeep models are known for their ability to perform well both on the pavement and off the pavement, and the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee is no exception there.
When most people think of Jeeps, luxury probably isn't the first word they'd use to describe the brand. However, the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a different story. Its luxurious interior, combined with its high tech features and remarkable towing capacity, all work together to make this Jeep unique. It has the looks, the tech, and the strength. From off-road adventure to the drag strip, the Grand Cherokee has the capabilities that put other SUVs to shame without compromising its high level of luxury. Let's take a closer look at what the new 2021 Jeep Cherokee has to offer.
The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee's interior comes in several different colors depending on the trim. There are ten different trims and special editions to choose from, all with various interior color options, but the most appealing seats come with three trims. These include the Overland, which comes with luxurious Nappa leather seating that's both heated and ventilated; the Summit, which includes Laguna leather seating that's also heated and ventilated; and finally, the top-of-the-line Trackhawk, which also comes with Laguna leather seating with additional Trackhawk logo stitching. In addition to the seating's aesthetic appeal, they're also easily adjustable, with 12-way power reclining, height adjustment, and cushion tilt, with lumbar support. To further create a more comfortable and safe experience, the Grand Cherokee comes with anti-whiplash adjustable head restraints. The driver's seat offers memory settings, and both the cushion and the seat's back are heated.
The steering wheel is heated and leather-trimmed, and the Grand Cherokee comes with leatherette door trim, fully carpeted flooring, and power windows. It offers up to 68.3 cubic feet of cargo space, with concealed storage, a cargo tray organizer, a front armrest with storage, a full floor console, a mini overhead console, and an illuminated glove box so that you can keep everything you need neatly organized. In terms of convenience, the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee comes with modern features such as push-button start and keyless entry with an included valet function to keep your belongings safe when you go out. Additionally, this SUV offers remote start via your smartphone, GPS navigation, and an engine immobilizer to prevent theft. Overall, the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee's interior is luxurious, comfortable, and convenient.
There's a lot to say about the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee's safety. We'll start off by pointing out that even the lowest trims are packed with safety technology. Jeep offers something called ProTech, which comes in different levels. ProTech I is standard on every trim, and it includes blind spot monitoring, rear cross path detection, ParkSense rear park assist, and the Parkview rear back up camera. These drivers assist features work together to help prevent rear-end and side-swiping collisions.
Stepping up the game, the ProTech II package is available on the Laredo and Laredo X trims. It includes forward collision warning with active braking, active brake assist, LaneSense lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and high-beam headlamps. These braking assist features help by using sensors to monitor the area and then automatically apply the brakes when needed to prevent accidents. This is especially helpful during an emergency situation when the driver's reflexes just aren't quick enough.
Finally, a higher level of the ProTech II Package is available on the top trims of the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It includes the aforementioned assist features, along with adaptive cruise control with stop and go, parallel and perpendicular park assist, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Adaptive cruise control keeps drivers from constantly resetting their cruise control thanks to its ability to adjust speed to match traffic flow. Additionally, parallel and perpendicular park assist lets drivers hand over the wheel to AI, which then uses cameras, sensors, and automatic steering to parallel park the Grand Cherokee with ease. It's important to still be aware of the surroundings when using this feature, but other than that, the driver is free to let the Grand Cherokee do the work.
Let's not forget about all the traditional safety features built into every 2021 Grand Cherokee. These classic features include knee airbags, dual-stage airbags, curtain airbags, rear child safety locks, seat belts with height adjusters, and side-impact beams. Additionally, electronic stability control and roll stability control help maintain traction and keep this high-profile vehicle from slipping or flipping as easily. Overall, the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee's safety features go beyond expectations.
One of Jeep's greatest highlights is its vehicle's impressive performance level. The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a great example of that. Let's take a closer look at its performance specs. First of all, the 2020 Grand Cherokee can tow up to 7,200 lbs when properly equipped. This is a lot more than the average midsize SUV can handle. It has a standard V6 engine the provides 295 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, but you can upgrade to three different V8 engines that really up the power. All three are capable of towing that top 7,200 lbs, but the V6 gets better mileage, landing at up to 26 MPG on the highway.
The four available engines for the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee include the base 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, a 5.7-liter Hemi V8, a 6.4-liter SRT V8, and a supercharged 6.2-liter V8. We'll go in order here. The 3.6-liter V6 gets the above mentioned 295 hp, and it can tow up to 6,200 lbs. The 5.7-liter V8 engine can produce up to 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. The 6.4-liter SRT V8 engine produces up to 475 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the 6.2-liter V8 gets up to a whopping 707 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque. This engine can go from 0-60 in only 3.5 seconds, so it's definitely the most powerful option. However, the best fuel-economy lies in the lower-level engines.
Off-roaders will be happy to know that the Grand Cherokee also comes with available 4x4 capabilities and the Selec-Terrain Traction Management System. If driving off the pavement is a priority, the Trailhawk trim, in particular, is a great route to go. This 4x4 capable Grand Cherokee comes with skid plates, all-terrain tires, tow hooks, and Quadra Drive II. This is a 4x4 system that creates better traction by allocating up to 100% of the Grand Cherokee's torque to the axle with the most traction. This Trail Rated vehicle meets all the off-roading standards, with the ability to plunge through up to 20 inches of water, climb over rocks, and much more. Depending on what suspension the driver chooses, the Grand Cherokee can maintain a ground clearance of up to 10.8 inches, ensuring that rocks and other off-roading objects do not scrape or scratch the model underneath. Overall, the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a great choice for off-roaders who like luxury and practicality.
