Small SUVs are incredibly popular, offering you the reliability, performance, and functionality of an SUV but in a more modest package, which means there are a lot of them out there. With so many to choose from, it can be difficult to decide on which one is right for you. However, if you are looking for a small SUV with incredible off-road performance, then the 2021 Jeep Compass is an amazing choice. With numerous trims available and great features for pretty much any driver, this small crossover is hard to beat.

The engine is good and powerful, giving you the performance you want, with a couple of different transmissions depending on the trim you choose and what you are looking for. Although this is a small SUV, it still has plenty of room inside for you to take advantage of, including seating for up to five people. When you think ā€œJeep,ā€ you probably think ā€œoff-road,ā€ and the Compass is no exception, particularly if you choose the Trailhawk trim. The Trailhawk includes a number of amazing off-road features, including Selec-Terrain traction management and full-time 4x4 with an off-road suspension.

Interior comfort and tech features depend on the trim and options you choose, of course, but can include an impressive array of systems. These include an 8-inch Infotainment display, dual-zone automatic temperature control, and a full-color 7-inch driver information display. Available safety features on the 2021 Jeep Compass include blind-spot monitoring, a full-speed forward collision warning with active braking, and adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go. All of these amazing systems and features come together to make one of the best small SUVs on the road; visit us at Zimmer Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram today to find out more.

  • Performance

The engine is always an important consideration when looking at different vehicles since so much of your driving experience depends on it. Of course, you should also look into the transmission and similar parts of the drivetrain to get a good overall sense of how a vehicle drives. The 2021 Jeep Compass comes through quite well in terms of performance and offers a very enjoyable driving experience.

The Compass Will Get You Places

There is a single-engine available for the Compass, which makes it easy to ensure you get the kind of performance you want. It comes with a 2.4L Tigershark I-4 engine that delivers up to 180 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. While that might not beat something like the Jeep Grand Cherokee or Wrangler, those vehicles are larger and need more muscle to get where they are going.

Depending on which trim you choose, you get one of two different transmissions. While a 6-speed manual transmission was previously standard, a 6-speed automatic is now standard for the 2021 Compass. The exception to this is the off-road-focused Trailhawk trim, which comes with a 9-speed automatic transmission instead. This gives you a bit more flexibility and adjusts easily for you while you are on the trail.

    Off-Road Dominance

You would expect a Jeep to be a great machine for going off-road, and the 2021 Compass does not disappoint in this regard. Although any Compass model can serve you pretty well on the trail, if you are really interested in going off-road, then you will want to choose the Trailhawk trim. This is truly a transformative option that turns the standard Jeep Compass into a Trail-Rated beast that can handle just about anything you throw at it.

    The Compass Is Trail-Ready

The Trailhawk trim has the same engine as the other models, with a 9-speed automatic transmission that makes for a smoother driving experience and is perfect for handling the changing terrain of the trail. You get a Selec-Terrain Traction Management System with the Trailhawk, which includes a Rock mode to help you with navigating particularly rough and rocky terrain. The Trailhawk also includes an advanced Off-Road suspension that keeps you more comfortable and helps improve articulation and clearance while you navigate rough areas.

You also get a pair of front red tow hooks, rear red tow hooks, and a 4-pin wiring harness and Class III receiver hitch that let you take advantage of the Jeep Compass Trailhawkā€™s 2,000 lb towing capacity. The Trailhawk also features a front suspension skid plate, fuel tank skid plate shield, transmission skid plate, and transfer case skid plate shield to protect the underside of your vehicle. Combine all of that with up to 19 inches of water fording ability and incredible ground clearance, and you have a small SUV that can tackle just about anything.

  • Interior

The Compass Has Room for You, Your Kids, and Your Pets

Even a small crossover SUV like the 2021 Jeep Compass should still give you plenty of room inside to fully take advantage of. Whether you are looking to have your family pile in for a road trip, need to load it up with bags from shopping and running errands, or prefer to stock up with camping supplies and leave the city behind for the weekend, the Compass has you covered. And with 60/40 rear seats that are easy to lower, plus an available power liftgate, it is easy to take advantage of all that space.

For passengers, the 2021 Jeep Compass offers comfortable, safe seating for up to five people: two in the front and three on the rear bench seat. You get 100 cu.ft. of total passenger space inside the Compass, with more than 41 inches of front legroom and up to about 38.3 inches of rear legroom. For storing cargo, you have more than 27 cu.ft. of cargo volume behind the rear seats, and with the seats down, you get nearly 60 cu.ft. of total cargo volume inside the Compass. That is a lot of space for a small SUV and makes this a great choice for families or couples with adventurous, outdoor lifestyles.

Many different factors can impact your overall enjoyment of a vehicle, including the power of the engine and how spacious the interior is. Few things can have as direct an impact on your daily driving experience, however, as the kinds of seating and tech features that you get in your vehicle. These will depend on the trim level you choose, of course, with additional features becoming standard and offered on higher trims.

    One High-Tech Interior

In terms of tech, the standard features are terrific, though if this is particularly important to you, then you will probably want to choose some available upgrades or a higher trim. The standard trim of the Jeep Compass is the Sport, which includes dual-zone front air conditioning, standard cruise control with steering wheel controls, and 6-way manual adjustable front seats. You also get steering wheel audio controls, a 6-speaker sound system, a 7-inch infotainment display, and a 3-inch black-and-white driver information display.

If you choose a higher trim, like the Limited, then you get a number of greatly upgraded interior features. For example, the Limited includes premium heated, leather-trimmed front seats, with an 8-way power-adjustable driverā€™s seat and 4-way power lumbar adjust. The Limited also features an 8-inch Infotainment display with an HD radio, a 7-inch color driver information display, and an available 9-speaker Alpine Premium sound system with an 8-inch subwoofer.

  • Safety

    Safety Features

When looking at a vehicle, nothing is more important than how safe it is and how well it can help protect you on the road. Standard safety features of the 2021 Jeep Compass include all-speed traction control, daytime running lamps, and electronic stability control. The Compass also features a comprehensive airbag system throughout the interior, as well as hill start assist.

    Safety First

There are a number of additional safety features available, and for the 2021 model, many of these are now standard on the Limited and Trailhawk trim ā€“ they were available options last year. These updated standard safety features on the highest trims include a blind spot monitoring system with rear cross path detection, a full-speed forward collision warning with active braking, and a lane departure warning system. The Limited and Trailhawk trims also include a ParkSense rear park assist system, as well as adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go functionality.
