When it comes to style, Ram trucks definitely know how to impress, and for the 2022 model year, you won’t be disappointed with some of the enhancements available to its already alluring design. Add the G/T Package to the Laramie or Rebel trims for increased athleticism and outstanding capabilities during your drive. What’s the News for 2021?

Ram revolutionized the truck world in 2021 with the release of the all-new Ram TRX. This monstrous off-road performance truck houses an unbelievably powerful 6.2L supercharged V8 HEMI engine generating 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful production truck ever built. Although based on the Ram 1500, the Ram TRX is taller, wider, and filled with unique performance features. With Bilstein shocks offering 14 inches of suspension travel and advanced drive modes with launch control, this truck is ready for anything.

In addition to the all-new TRX, the standard Ram 1500 also saw some significant improvements for 2021. The new head-up display, a first for any Ram truck, combined with the new digital rearview mirror, provides a new level of awareness when driving, giving you critical information without having to take your eyes off the road. Trailer Reverse Steering Control also joined Ram’s available Trailer Package for the first time, allowing you to safely and intuitively reverse with a trailer in tow by rotating a dial on the dash. With these improvements and more, Ram’s most popular model continues to be the safest, most comfortable, and most capable half-ton truck on the market.

2020 Ram Models

Ram is offering three full-size trucks for the 2020 model year, consisting of the half-ton Ram 1500, the three-quarter-ton Ram 2500, and the mighty one-ton Ram 3500. But while their power, trailering, and payload may vary, all three of these models offer unmatched reliability, luxury, and technology. Whichever Ram model you choose, you will be driving one of the best pickups on the road.

2020 Ram 1500

A red 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie is parked in front of a city skyline.

The Ram 1500 is one of the best-selling trucks in America and comes standard with a 3.6L V6 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. However, you can upgrade to either a 5.7L V8 HEMI or a 3.0L Turbo Diesel, giving the truck a maximum towing capacity of 12,750 pounds and a maximum payload of 2,302 pounds. A total of seven trims are available, ranging from the base Tradesman and Big Horn all the way up to the luxurious Laramie Longhorn and Limited. Multiple cab and bed configurations round out your options, allowing you to fully customize your Ram 1500 to meet your personal needs.

Inside, the base offerings come with vinyl seats, a five-inch touchscreen, voice command and Bluetooth streaming audio, remote keyless entry, an electric parking brake, and an exclusive front air dam, which automatically deploys at higher speeds to reduce drag. On the upper end of trims, Ram adds real wood accents, heated rear seats, a twelve-inch touchscreen, and power running boards to allow for easier entry and exit. There is also a 900-watt Harman Kardon premium audio system, which has an impressive 19 speakers, and four-corner air suspension with automatic load leveling, making the 2020 Ram 1500 Limited the most luxurious truck in its class.

Ram’s unique multifunction tailgate is now available across all trim levels for the 2020 Ram 1500. The design of the tailgate allows it to swing open with a 60/40 split, opening like the back of a van. This means you gain better access to the truck bed to load or unload––particularly when the truck is hitched to a trailer. This feature does not compromise the tailgate’s strength in any way, and it can still support an impressive 2,000 pounds when opened in the traditional manner.

A gray 2020 Ram 1500 Classic Warlock is kicking up dirt on a trail outside Florence, KY.

While the Ram 1500 was recently redesigned, Ram has continued producing the previous generation under the name Ram 1500 Classic. This model may lack some modern features, but is an affordable option for anyone looking for a basic work truck. Like the normal Ram 1500, the Classic comes standard with the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine and TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. If the crew or cab models are chosen, there is room for up to six passengers, and the interior comes standard with a split-bench front seat which has a folding front armrest with cup holders. The RamBox Cargo Management System is available to make storage easy without losing the use of the truck bed. Storage units accessed from the side of the truck will make stowing tools or other items easy to reach anytime.

While there are only three trims offered for the Classic, it still has plenty of valuable options, including an available 5.7L Hemi V8 engine, which delivers 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. The Express trim has the option of the Express Black Accent Package, which decks out the exterior in a monochromatic style and adds 20-inch semi-gloss black-painted aluminum wheels. The last trim level is the Warlock, which also flaunts the monochromatic style of the Express Black Accent. It comes with black tow hooks, black powder-coated bumpers, and LED taillights. The Warlock’s classy interior is a black and gray two-tone with a 40/20/40 split-folding black cloth bench seat.

A red 2020 Ram 2500 Power Wagon is on a mountain trail.

The Ram 2500 is a real work truck. With the standard 6.4L V8 engine, you gain 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, or you can choose the available 6.7L Turbo-Diesel inline-6 engine with 370 horsepower and 850 lb-ft of torque. Active grille shutters adapt to speed, load, and engine temperature to maintain engine cooling and reduce drag. Keyless entry is available, and the base Tradesman trim comes standard with push-button start, work-grade vinyl seats, and molded doors to handle your workday. The standard infotainment includes Bluetooth, a USB port, and a five-inch touchscreen.

The five other trim choices for the 2020 Ram 2500 are the Big Horn, Laramie, Power Wagon, Laramie Longhorn, and Limited. Each trim level adds features that build on the Tradesman, allowing you to enjoy luxury as well as capability. The Power Wagon is a specialized off-road trim that includes features like a front disconnecting sway bar, front and rear locking differentials, and a 12,000-pound winch. This trim also comes exclusively with the 6.4L V8 HEMI engine and Bilstein gas-charged monotube shocks for optimum performance.

Splurging on the uppermost Limited trim will add premium features like LED headlights and taillights, 20-inch aluminum painted wheels, power side steps, and chrome accents. On the inside, leather seating with real wood and aluminum accents lends luxury to the comfortable cab. Infotainment consists of a 12-inch high-resolution touchscreen with convenient features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot, 360° surround-view cameras, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Auto-leveling rear suspension, available adaptive LED headlights, and the RamBox Cargo Management System will take the 2020 Ram 2500 Limited over the top.

Ram’s hardworking one-ton truck can handle towing up to 35,100 pounds when outfitted with the 6.7L high-output Cummins Turbo Diesel engine, available on all trims. An available fifth-wheel/gooseneck prep package integrates mounting hardware in the truck bed, and when you’re not towing, the bed can handle a payload of up to 7,680 pounds.

The 2020 Ram 3500 has five trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, and Limited. Starting with the Tradesman, adding the available Chrome Appearance Package offers chrome grille surround, chrome bumpers, chrome-clad aluminum wheels, and a chrome “RAM” grille badge. The features of this trim are largely shared with the Ram 2500 model and include work-grade vinyl, molded doors, Bluetooth, and a five-inch touchscreen, lending themselves to your workday while you’re on the job.

The Big Horn trim will raise the standard features to include a power driver seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, active noise cancellation, acoustic laminated glass for a quiet cabin, and an available nine-speaker Alpine audio system. Four cloth colors can be combined to create a unique interior for the bucket or bench seats. Ram’s top-of-the-line 12-inch touchscreen is also available for this trim.

Moving up to the Laramie, aluminum wheels are standard. The interior is upgraded with leather-trimmed seats and suede inserts, accent stitching, LED lighting, an 8.4-inch high-definition touchscreen, a 12-month trial of Sirius XM, and a nine-speaker Alpine audio system. An available Night Appearance Package will show off black badging, black grille accents, smoked headlight and taillight bezels, and 20-inch black aluminum wheels.

The Laramie Longhorn trim lends more style to the exterior with available two-tone paint options, polished wheels, and a narrow-profile sidestep. True to its name, Southwestern accents like alligator-embossed leather seating will lend a unique flair to the interior. Finally, the Limited trim brings luxury with all-leather seating, real wood and aluminum cabin accents, and an available 17-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system.

Each of these trims has available lane departure warning with lane keep assist which warns the driver when the truck drifts unintentionally out of its lane. If the driver doesn’t react, the system is designed to bring the truck safely back into its lane. Other safety features like adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and front and rear park assist will allow you to drive with more ease, knowing your truck is watching the road for you.
