Jeep got its start in America in the 1940s when the American military requested a light reconnaissance vehicle to serve in the war effort. Believe it or not, Zimmer Motors was in business for over a decade by the time the Willys Jeep was delivered to the American Army. First established as a Plymouth franchise by Ed Zimmer in 1929, we spent the next several decades expanding the franchise with the addition of Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and Ram to our list of automotive brands. By the new millennium, we officially renamed the dealership Zimmer Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.

What’s the Difference? Used vs Certified Pre-Owned

The difference between used and certified pre-owned cars has to do with the manufacturer’s guarantee of the vehicle. Used vehicles are typically sold as-is, which means what you see is exactly what you get. They’re detailed and then added to the used inventory. They may or may not come with a warranty depending on their age, mileage, and other eligibility factors.

Certified pre-owned vehicles are typically priced higher than used models, but the money is well spent because it reflects the work that our dealership and the manufacturer put into them. For a Jeep to earn its certified pre-owned badge, it must be less than five years old, have a clean title, and have fewer than 75,000 miles. Its frame must be undamaged, and any aftermarket accessories, which are often found on pre-owned Jeeps, must not compromise the operation, safety, and emissions of the model.

If the Jeep meets these standards, it’s then subjected to a 125-point comprehensive inspection. During the inspection, our certified technicians will look over every inch of the vehicle, from materials like the owner’s manual and warranty paperwork to its transmission, steering, and fluid levels. We’ll make a note of any areas that need repair before the vehicle is sent to the service department for reconditioning and repair using authentic Mopar parts.

Once the Jeep is reconditioned, it’s added to our CPO inventory. Every CPO Jeep comes with a factory-backed 7-year or 100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, a 3-month or 3,000-mile maximum care warranty, the CARFAX vehicle history report, and a three-month trial to SiriusXM satellite radio. Jeep also offers certified warranty upgrades that include trip interruption coverage, car rental allowance, first-day rental, towing, and roadside assistance.
