Every CPO Ram truck must pass Chrysler’s stringent CPO qualification standards and requirements. To even be considered, a truck must have fewer than 75,000 miles, be less than five years old, and have a clean title. The truck cannot have any frame damage, and any aftermarket accessories cannot compromise the truck’s operation or safety.

Once a truck meets these requirements, the Ram undergoes a comprehensive 125-point inspection. Our certified technicians inspect the truck from bumper to bumper, from roof to underbody. We’ll look at the ownership materials like the owner’s manual and the CARFAX report, as well as mechanical components like the ignition, engine, airbags, transmission, lights, and more. If the truck needs minor repairs, our technicians will handle the work and then send it over to be detailed prior to entering our CPO inventory.

Ram’s Rich History

It’s impossible to discuss Ram’s history without mentioning its ties to Dodge. Brothers John and Horace Dodge started building bicycles in the late 1890s before they ventured into the automotive industry. After a decade of producing automotive parts for Oldsmobile and Ford, the brothers debuted their first car in 1914 and their first truck in 1918. In 1928, the popular Dodge brand became a part of the growing Chrysler conglomerate.

With Chrysler at the helm, Dodge entered a new era and marked this new chapter with a ram head on the hood of its new trucks. The ram was a symbol of strength and showed that every truck was built “Ram tough.” The mascot appeared on every Dodge from the 1930s until the 1950s, when it was briefly discontinued. Fortunately, that wasn’t the end of the road for the ram.

Chrysler CEO Lee Iacocca revived Dodge’s former mascot for the 1981 truck lineup and officially linked the Dodge and Ram names on the all-new Dodge Ram truck. The first generation (1981-1993) was a natural progression of the Dodge D-series truck and included the same engines to give drivers plenty of power with a half-ton, three-quarter-ton, and one-ton option. By the second generation (1994-2002), Dodge redesigned the truck and gave the Ram new classifications as a 1500 (half-ton), 2500 (three-quarter-ton), and 3500 (one-ton), all of which blended rugged capability with a premium interior.

Dodge made more improvements to the truck for its third generation (2002-2008), before Chrysler split the Dodge-Ram partnership in 2009 to give Ram greater independence. This coincided with the fourth generation of the Ram truck and allowed Ram to focus all its efforts on building powerful workhorses. That power and capability are what we see today on Ram trucks built since 2010.

Ram’s separation from Dodge in 2009 paved the way for greater innovation in terms of power, capability, and technology across the Ram lineup. Ram 1500

This trend continued with subsequent models as the 1500 built its reputation for delivering one of the smoothest rides on the road, even when towing a heavy load. Ram capitalized on this reputation and extended the 1500’s capability to the next level with the introduction of the high-performance TRX in 2021. Ram 2500
