Here's What You Get With Ram

Ram trucks quickly established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the marketplace after it separated from Dodge back in 2010. The Ram brand took command of several key models, including the 1500 light-duty pickup series of vehicles, the 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty trucks, the ProMaster, and the ProMaster City. All of the models available from Ram come in a variety of different trims, from the base work truck trims up to the luxury trims and everything else in between. There are low-end, mid-range, and luxury trims that feature special badging, interior amenities, exterior accessories, and some performance enhancements.

For the Ram 1500 pickup truck, you have access to multiple cab options and seating for up to six people, with multiple bed options so you can carry various amounts of cargo in the back. If you need more horsepower, more torque, and the ability to trailer tens of thousands of pounds, the Ram 2500 HD and Ram 3500 HD series are a perfect fit for you. For extra towing capabilities, you can also get the Ram heavy-duty pickup models in dual rear wheel configurations.

The Ram ProMaster line is not only perfect for commercial work, such as delivery and shuttle services, but it also works well as a passenger vehicle. The ProMaster is a cargo van with sliding doors and the ability to customize the van with upfitting. The larger Ram ProMaster 2500 and 3500 series are excellent not only for cargo and delivery but can also be utilized as a cutaway for custom upfitting purposes. The commercial applications for the ProMaster range from catering and telecoms to plumbing and construction. Alternatively, you can opt for the smaller ProMaster City, which offers an efficient choice for urban businesses.

2022 Models from the Ram Lineup

2022 will be an exciting year for Ram trucks, with several developments already revealed for the upcoming model year. Most of the changes arrive through the Ram 1500 lineup in the form of special editions, some of which are causing ripples of excitement for truck enthusiasts. New special editions in the form of another off-road variant, a pair of sport-tuned models, and a special anniversary model offer up a mouth-watering range of opportunities to have a Ram 1500 just the way you want it. Fewer changes show up for the heavy-duty Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 models, though Ram does give some refreshes to that lineup as well. All of these 2022 models are available to you right here at Zimmer.

Starting with the more luxurious side of truck life, Ram decided to celebrate the anniversary of its most opulent trim level. After ten years of the Ram 1500 Limited, a limited edition will be available for 2022. The ultimate in premium features will take the 2022 Ram 1500 Limited even deeper into luxury territory, with quilted leather seats, a 19-speaker audio system, and a choice of a 5.7-liter V8 HEMI or a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine. An exclusive Blue Shade exterior and Sea Salt Grey interior are expected to give this limited edition a head-turning look with all the lavish details that take the Limited into luxury territory.

Another pair of special editions arriving for 2022 consists of the Laramie G/T and Rebel G/T, also for the Ram 1500. Buyers can expect sport-style enhancements and improved performance from these editions, not unlike what you would find in a sports car. In the cockpit, drivers will have the thrill of keeping track of performance stats with new Uconnect pages dedicated to tracking speed, torque, and much more. Sport pedals, paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel, and even a performance shifter on the console will all add to the sport performance of the G/T models for a spirited driving experience on the road. The exterior styling will speak volumes about the G/T capability with a hood scoop, cat-back exhaust, and G/T graphics that will all point to a Ram 1500 that can handle the road with power.

New for 2022, the Ram 1500 BackCountry model will be sold as an entry-level option for off-road enthusiasts who want a more affordable model than the Rebel or TRX. The new BackCountry special edition builds on the Big Horn trim, adding off-road performance features and its own appearance package for a unique style. For the rest of the 2022 Ram 1500 lineup, the continued options for several engines from the standard Pentastar V6 to the optional HEMI V8 and EcoDiesel will be found across the trims, along with the choice of cab and bed sizes. Buyers will find the Ram 1500 to be one of the smoothest rides of any truck available, and the options for upper-level trims remain some of the most luxurious on the market.

For heavy-duty trucks, 2022 Ram 2500 models will remain largely similar, but with several new package changes available for towing and technology. Infotainment systems will be updated to the Uconnect 5 system in 2022 Ram HD models, bringing a new level of functionality to the available 12-inch touchscreen. This system will include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, among many other new features to make connectivity simpler on the road. Most refreshes for the Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 trucks show up in package offerings and appearances.

2022 Ram 1500 BackCountry

Ram designed another off-road half-ton variant built on the Big Horn trim with a more affordable price tag than the much pricier Rebel trim. For 2022, the Ram 1500 BackCountry will add to the Big Horn features with standard four-wheel drive and 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac all-terrain tires to take the BackCountry out on the trails. Powered by Ram's 5.7-liter HEMI V8, the available horsepower and torque will be more than sufficient to take this truck just about anywhere you want to explore, and buyers can also choose the mild hybrid version of this engine. It can come with an extended cab or crew cab, and equipment like a spray-in bed liner, a bed extender, and tie-downs that can be adjusted for various cargo will come as standard for the 2022 BackCountry.

Even being based on one of the less expensive trims, Ram generously outfits the BackCountry with all the necessary implements for off-roading. Tow hooks, skid plates, and upgraded shocks are all part of the package with the new off-road variant, and buyers can expect technology like hill descent control and the electronic-locking rear differential to play a role in getting onto the trails in Ram's newest off-road truck. Equipment for the BackCountry is outstanding, but Ram takes this special edition trim a little further with a black faux leather interior and blacked-out exterior details like the grille and wheels to give it a sport-oriented style. Expect the same technology and conveniences found on the Big Horn to be offered in the BackCountry, including any available upgrades for features through packages or stand-alone options.

2021 Ram Truck Models

2021 Ram TRX

Named Motortrend's "Truck of the Year," the 2021 Ram TRX is the most powerful production street-legal half-ton pickup ever built. With its supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 under the hood, this machine harnesses 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. This is a master of the streets that has a wizard-like ability to switch between eight drive modes, each of which tunes the suspension, stability control, transmission, torque, steering, and more to make the TRX optimized for any terrain. The TRX can take the performance over the top with Launch Control, which enhances feedback for wheel slip and monitors RPM for the best acceleration on the road. Keep track of your pursuit of excellence with the performance pages that can be customized in the Uconnect system.

Utilizing a high-performance air induction system, a cast-iron engine block made to withstand punishment, and a supercharger to deliver immediate torque, the 2021 Ram TRX is a truck built to be legendary. Bilstein Black Hawk shocks ensure the TRX adapts instantly to the driving conditions, calculating the feedback delivered from the brakes, steering, throttle, and more using an algorithm that makes the TRX capable of handling its extreme power and speed with superior control. Beyond performance, the 2021 TRX delivers high-tech features like a head-up display, a 12-inch touchscreen, and a premium 19-speaker Harman Kardon stereo system. The interior design delivers upscale suede upholstery for the seats and dash, a sport performance steering wheel, leather-wrapped shift knob, and special badging. The 2021 Ram TRX is a truck created for truck enthusiasts by truck enthusiasts.

2021 Ram 1500

The 2021 Ram 1500 is Ram’s most diverse option. You can use it for hard work, or you can use it to pull the family camper. The best part about it is that you can get it with a diesel engine, which increases its long-term value and provides it with even more power than a gasoline engine. It’s safe to say that there are a lot of perks to this model. Let’s take a closer look at what it offers.

The 2021 Ram 1500 comes in 9 different trims. These include the Limited, Limited Longhorn, Rebel, HFE, Laramie, Bighorn, Tradesman HFE, Tradesman, and the powerhouse TRX trims. With a Ram 1500, you have tons of options for engines and potential towing capacities, depending on which trim you choose. The highest towing capacities come with the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 eTorque, which can pull up to 12,750 pounds, or the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6, which can tow up to 12,560 pounds. The Limited trim comes with a standard 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine, and the HFE comes with a standard diesel engine. You can also upgrade to various engine options when you build most 2021 Ram 1500 trim models.

Speaking of diesel, there’s also some good news about the 2021 Ram 1500’s fuel economy. While trucks are powerful and often not too kind on the fuel tank, the EcoDiesel engine actually provides it with up to 26 miles per gallon combined. If poor mileage is the only thing that’s keeping you from buying a Ram 1500, now it doesn’t have to be.

Finally, let’s take a quick look at the 2021 Ram 1500’s aesthetic options. Ram trucks are known for being widely customizable, and this model is no different. It depends on what trim you choose, but some exciting exterior color options include Flame Red, Delmonico Red, Hydro Blue, Patriot Blue, Anvil, Spitfire Orange, Olive Green, and Tank, which is a green shade. You also get a ton of wheel options with this model. These include multiple designs in 18-inch, 20-inch, and 22-inch wheels, and you can choose from black, silver, chrome, or gray-painted options. It’s safe to say that the 2021 Ram 1500 is not only powerful but stylish to boot.

2021 Ram 1500 Classic

The Ram 1500 Classic is not merely another Ram trim. Instead, it’s a modern model with a classic twist. The main difference between this model and other Ram 1500s lies in its 2-door availability and classic styling. But there are several more aspects that make this model significantly different. For example, the Ram 1500 Classic only has three trims to choose from: Tradesman, Express, and Warlock. Further, the 1500 Classic is cheaper than the modern Ram 1500.

If you want a truck that has some pretty amazing off-road prowess, but don't want to spring for the $70 thousand Ram 1500 TRX, then the Ram 1500 Classic Warlock is the truck for you. It comes with a standard 3.6-liter V6 engine, but you can add the 5.7-liter V8 HEMI for an added price. If you opt for the more powerful engine, you will get to experience 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque as you take on the trails. Also, it comes with its own cool add-on options, such as the Warlock All-Terrain package. This package includes 17-inch Matte Black wheels, a central hub, all-terrain tires, and front and rear rubber mats that are designed to repel mud, keeping your floors safe and clean.

Just because this is the Classic Ram by no means indicates an absence of technology. The Ram 1500 Classic still comes with several tech options, including standard Bluetooth, an 8.4-inch infotainment center, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Roadside Assistance via SiriusXM Guardian, and much more. This infotainment screen also doubles as a camera display for added safety.

With the 1500 Classic, you’ll also get tons of safety features. These include the ParkView Rear Back Up Camera and ParkSense Rear Park Assist Systems, Hill Start Assist, and Trailer Sway Control, to name just a few. Just like the regular Ram 1500, the 1500 Classic is able to keep everyone safe and secure. Overall, the Ram 1500 Classic is well worth the investment.

2021 Ram Heavy Duty Trucks

There’s no questioning that the Ram 1500 are capable models for the average truck driver. However, some drivers need even more power, especially for farm work, construction work, and heavy equipment towing. This is where the 2021 Ram heavy duty options come in. When you need more power and capability, you need to look for a Ram 2500 or 3500.

The Ram 2500

The Ram 2500 is a great model for those who need a little more power than the Ram 1500 can offer. It comes in 6 different trims, which include the Limited, the Limited Longhorn, the Laramie, the Power Wagon, the Big Horn, and the Tradesman. This model’s towing capacity maxes out at 19,680 pounds. To get this max capacity, you’ll want to invest in the 6.7-liter turbodiesel engine. This engine gets 370 horsepower and an incredible 850 lb-ft of torque, which goes a long way towards that maximum towing capacity. All in all, the Ram 2500 is great for performing average farm work and for other endeavors such as camper towing.

A dark red 2021 Ram 2500 is parked in a dimly lit garage.

The Ram 3500

Now let’s take a look at the Ram 3500. This one is for hardcore haulers. The 6.7-liter High-Output Turbo Diesel engine can haul a whopping max of 37,100 pounds, producing 1,075 lb-ft of torque and 420 horsepower. With this beast, you’ll be able to haul heavy trailer loads of hay, heavy machinery, and even a large houseboat. If you’re looking for something that can manage the heaviest loads possible without crossing over into commercial or semi-truck territory, this model is for you.

Ram Heavy Duty Truck Highlights

The good news is that no matter what you need to haul, both models include some impressive smart towing features. First, you’ll get two-fold mirrors that you can add a 360 Surround View Camera to. Further, the Trailer Reverse Guidance includes 5 cameras that can help you see everything around you and your trailer. The Trailer Camera Prep also lets you attach cameras to your trailer and even inside it so you can keep a closer eye on your cargo.

You’ll also get the Trailer Light Check feature, along with a Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System that can manage 12 tires per trailer. Thanks to this feature, it’ll be nearly impossible to miss a flat. In addition to this, drivers get the Class-Exclusive Auto-Level Rear Air Suspension which offers Bed Lowering Mode, which makes it even easier to hook up your trailer. Between this feature and the 360 Surround Camera, hooking up and towing trailers has never been easier.

While towing is likely your main concern when buying a heavy-duty truck, the Ram’s aesthetic appeal is still worth noting. This model comes with multiple color options. These include both two-tone and regular exterior color options. The two-toned options all come with silver or black accents that line the truck’s lower body. Some color options include olive, maroon, silver, and gray shades, and of course, classic white and black. The Tradesman trim comes with unique low-volume exterior colors such as light green, orange, bright yellow, and many more options.

The Ram’s wheel options range from 17-inch to 18-inch and 20-inch wheels. These include multiple styles and colors, including several black options. If you’re into simple aesthetics, the standard wheels on lower trims like the Tradesman are fine. However, you can upgrade this ideal farm truck’s looks to double as both a work truck and a street prowler. No matter which route you go, one thing’s for sure: the Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks are as powerful as any truck can get.
